Big Al combine quand meme touché de balle, appuis excellents et une palette de moves près du cercle que les noms cités ne combinent pas à eux tous.
En plus de ca il a une vraie intelligence de jeu, il sait toujours quoi faire pour scorer, prise a deux ou pas.
Clair qu'il a n'est pas aussi complet qu'un Bosh ou un Boozer d'une manière générale mais près du cercle il est juste injouable.
Son défaut est encore son dribble, il n'est bon que s'il touche le ballon a maximum 4-5 metres du cercle. C'est pas comme un KG ou un Bosh qui peuvent dribbler et s'écarter comme des arrières.
Pour qu'il soit encore plus énorme et considéré vraiment comme un des tous meilleurs, il lui faut un vrai meneur de jeu, pas Randy Foye ou Kevin Ollie.
Ben Big Al n'est pas impressionnant dans le sens spectaculaire. Peu de gros megadunks sur la gueule de ses adversaires, peu de shoots difficiles comme peut les rentrer un Randolph dans un grand soir, peu de pénétrations rapides a la manière d'un arriere comme Bosh sait le faire. Mais il est impressionnant techniquement, dans les moves qu'il va passer pour au final un panier presque facile. On s'en rend pas forcément compte pendant le match, mais une fois je suis tombé sur une video montrant tous ses paniers lors d'un gros game (une quinzaine de shoots rentrés pour une perf a plus de 30 points), et c'était juste un festival de moves parfaits, tout y passait.
ça fait un bail que j'ai pas regardé Minny jouer, allez savoir pourquoi, mais dans mon souvenir le gros Al était doué mais pas vraiment plus impressionnant qu'un Randolph, j'y jetterai un coup d'oeil attentif la saison prochaine...enfin, si les wolwes draftent un type interressant...

Wow, techniquement, Big Al les fume sans probleme.
Le seul qui a des atouts pour rivaliser c'est Gasol grace a son intelligence de jeu. Boozer a des moves tres propres mais bien moins diversifiés, West a son shoot mi distance mais poste bas n'est pas au niveau des meilleurs, et Randolph, niveau fondamentaux c'est pas trop ca.
Ca se défend mais de toute facon Big Al restera a Sota, et ca va très bien aux fans.
Quant aux qualités de stood que tu décris bien, c'est la meme pour notre joueur, je connais pas d'autre big men avec un jeu au poste si efficace et si diversifié a part le boss en la matière, Duncan.
Et puis c'est pas un détail mais Big Al a un contrat longue durée ici, pour pas si cher que ca je trouve. Stoud il en est ou niveau contrat?
On en reparle l'an prochain, mais si Stoud est transféré ça m'étonnerait pas de le voir afficher un bon 28 points de moyenne dans une équipe qui joue pour lui...
Même si les Suns jouent de manière assez offensive, il y a trop de bons scoreurs à Phoenix pour que Stood montre son réèl niveau, car le jeu n'est pas centré sur lui, c'est juste une pièce du système parmis d'autres.
Je suis pas fan du joueur mais je trouve que c'est un gros monstre en attaque, entre ses capacités athlétique et son shoot à mi distance qui est devenu très fiable, c'est un combo unique en nba.
Je remet pas les qualités de Big Al qui est en train de devenir un très gros joueur, mais pour moi Stood est toujours au dessus, malgré sa dernière saison en demi teinte.

Mais le rajout du pick et de Lopez c'est surtout dans l'hypothèse que Jefferson s'est remis completement de sa blessure.

Stack n'est plus là depuis quelque temps déjà, faudrait que je vérifie.
Et Taylor a dégagé McHale de son poste de touche a tout en décembre.

Depuis qu'il est meilleur
Offensivement bcp plus poli ,moins explosif mais meilleure technique.
Défensivement ce sont deux joueurs qui doivent progresser.
Et le trade discuté c'était bien Big Al et pick 6 contre Stoud.

Oui, Minnesota et Phoenix ont discuté d’un échange entre Al Jefferson et le sixième choix contre Amare Stoudemire.
Non, Stoudemire n’ira pas aux T’Wolves, tout simplement parce que David Kahn, le nouveau GM de Minnesota, n’est pas tombé dans le piège tendu par Steve Kerr.
Après les révélations du Boston Globe de ce matin, Kahn a appelé Jefferson pour le rassurer, et lui dire qu’il n’avait aucune intention de le transférer.
En revanche, les Suns cherchent bien un club pour Stoudemire. Washington serait d’ailleurs toujours sur les rangs. Selon des sources proches du club, la motivation des Suns est financière. Pour resigner Steve Nash et Grant Hill, et attirer des free agents, les dirigeants ont besoin d’argent, et le départ de Stoudemire pourrait considérablement alléger la masse salariale.
En parallèle à ça, Steve Kerr a annoncé qu’il avait reçu des coups de fil de 15 franchises pour un transfert de Shaquille O’Neal !

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)—During 15 years in charge of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Kevin McHale forged two distinct reputations.
There was McHale the gifted teacher, beloved by players and staff for his relentlessly positive demeanor and an unending eagerness to share his wealth of basketball knowledge. Then there was McHale the mistake-prone executive, vilified by fans for a series of blunders and the failure to make his team into a consistent championship contender.
New president of basketball operations David Kahn dumped McHale as coach on Wednesday, praising him as a “great man” who deserves respect. But offered no specific reasons during a press conference for his decision, saying instead that “this is going to be a transition period. And with the changes that have occurred, and with the changes that are still going to come, it would have been difficult to put him in the middle of that again.”
McHale, a northern Minnesota native and Hall of Fame player who won three NBA titles with the Boston Celtics in the 1980s, met several times with Kahn before the decision was reached.
“I was willing to come back but they never offered me a contract,” McHale told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “They told me last night they were going in a different direction. I said, ‘I think you’re making a mistake, but that’s up to you guys.”’
Players lamented the loss of the teacher.
“I was more shocked, disappointed, hurt,” said forward Al Jefferson(notes), one of many players who urged Kahn to bring McHale back next season. “But at the same time I understand that this is a business.”
Timberwolves forward Mark Madsen(notes) said McHale will be sorely missed.
“Kevin McHale is a great coach,” Madsen said in a phone interview from Salt Lake City. “I’m a little bit surprised by this news and I was hoping to play for him next season and I guess that’s not going to happen now.”
Though he helped turn one of the most hapless franchises in professional sports into a playoff team by boldly drafting Kevin Garnett(notes) out of high school with the fifth pick in 1995, McHale received massive criticism from fans the last few years for a series of draft-day failures and other roster moves that never worked out.
After a stirring run to the Western Conference finals in 2004, the Wolves have not made the playoffs since.
McHale showed more proficiency as a coach and adored this young team that he helped assemble after trading Garnett to Boston in 2007. Timberwolves forward Kevin Love(notes) actually leaked word of McHale’s departure early Wednesday with a Twitter posting that read in part: “Today is a sad day.”
“I don’t want Kevin (Love) to feel badly about that,” said Kahn, who added that they won’t start the coaching search until after the June 25 draft. “We live in a very different world than all of us grew up in. I don’t think it’s a big deal.”
McHale had been the primary decision-maker on personnel matters since he was named vice president of basketball operations in 1995, forging a tight bond with owner Glen Taylor in the process.
“I know that David made a careful analysis and this decision was made with the best interests of the Minnesota Timberwolves in mind,” Taylor said in a statement issued by the team. “I will be forever grateful for the work Kevin did in returning to his home state and assembling a team that made eight straight playoff appearances. Kevin brought an enormous amount of basketball talent and passion to our organization and I wish him nothing but the best.”
Even while in the front office, McHale loved to work with players—often staying late after practice to help post players from Garnett to Jefferson hone their inside games. He still enjoyed that aspect last season, though losing wore on him and he wasn’t fond of the rigors of travel.
Though Jefferson lobbied heavily to keep McHale, he said he supported Kahn’s decision “100 percent.”
“We have to put Mac out of our heads right now,” Jefferson said. “I talked to some of the guys today. In a way, we’re glad it’s over with.”
In 2005, McHale took over as coach after firing his old friend Flip Saunders and went 19-12 the rest of the season.
Taylor moved McHale down from the front office again in December to take over for fired coach Randy Wittman, and hired Kahn last month to take McHale’s former position as basketball boss.
Minnesota’s record under McHale after he replaced Wittman was 20-43, but for much of that stretch the Wolves were playing short-handed after Jefferson tore the ACL in his right knee. Defensive standout Corey Brewer(notes) also suffered a season-ending knee injury and guard Randy Foye(notes) missed 12 of the last 22 games to ankle and hip problems.
Several players remarked about the positive vibe McHale brought to the bench and expressed appreciation of his simpler strategy.
“I believe to my core that Kevin McHale has some enormous gifts and is a good human being who cares deeply about his players,” Kahn said. “But I can also believe, at this present time, it was time to make a change.”
McHale was haunted by several bad contracts given to the likes of Marko Jaric(notes), Troy Hudson(notes) and Mike James(notes); draft-day blunders like Ndudi Ebi, Rashad McCants(notes) and the trade of Brandon Roy(notes) for Randy Foye; and an illegal under-the-table deal with Joe Smith(notes) that ultimately cost the team three first-round draft picks.
Those missteps aside, Madsen said he thinks people should remember that McHale built a perennial lottery team into a group that once lost to the Lakers in the Western Conference finals.
“I think Kevin McHale’s legacy speaks for itself,” Madsen said. “Sure, the last couple years haven’t been quite as good as any of us would have wanted. But let’s not forget that it was Kevin McHale and Flip Saunders that took this organization to new heights in 2004 that was probably an injury away from a championship.”

MINNEAPOLIS -- Watching Kevin McHale work the sidelines for the Minnesota Timberwolves, it is difficult to gauge just how much coaching he has left in him.
There were days this season when he was so frustrated by a lack of effort or a slow start that it looked like he wanted to walk away in the middle of a game.
Then there were nights when everything seemed to come together, when he saw the players applying what he harped on in practice and showing abilities that weren't there earlier this season. And he would walk out of the arena invigorated, with an extra hop in that famous limp of his.
So it should come as no surprise that he wasn't willing to shed any light on his future with the organization after a season-finishing loss to the lowly Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night.
"We'll see," McHale said.
The coach said he will head to his cabin with the family and think things over before he decides whether his career with his homestate team is over.
"If it is, it is, if it's not, it's not," McHale said. "All things change and come to an end and stuff like that. We do different things. Life's a fun journey. You do different stuff and try to enjoy whatever you're doing and move on from there."
The Minnesota native has been with the Timberwolves since 1994. He took over as vice president of basketball operations in 1995 and held that post for most of the next 14 years, including his first stint as coach in 2005. But owner Glen Taylor stripped him of those duties when he fired Randy Wittman and installed McHale as coach in December.
Taylor wants McHale to return as coach next season, and the players seem to agree.
Forward Al Jefferson, who has been out since the All-Star break with a knee injury, told The Associated Press that he wants McHale to return as coach, "but I want him to be happy, to be comfortable with his decision."
"If he coaches, I told him we're going to fight to the end," Jefferson said. "I think he's a good coach. He was a player so he knows how to relate to us, he knows how to talk to us and he knows how to coach us. But also, if he wants to go back in the front office, that works for me because, even if he's in the front office, he's down there [in practice] as if he was a coach."
But the owner has made it clear that he is looking for another basketball person to fill the executive chair McHale sat in for so long. So for McHale, it's coach or go home.
"If there's some kind of way that he leaves the Timberwolves," Jefferson said, "that's when I'll be very, very upset."
The decision could be a difficult one for the former Boston Celtics great.
"If I don't come back, I'll miss the guys," McHale said after the game. "They really are a great group of guys. They fight hard and they're resilient."
On the one hand, McHale loves working with players in practice and seeing that hard work manifest itself in games. He enjoys being around the game and has developed a close bond with this young, good-natured team that has been eager to learn from him.
"Whoever coaches them will be able to come in here and have a good group of guys," McHale said. "They will play hard for you. They're good kids. They're going to go out there and lay it on the line. I like them. We all get along pretty well and stuff.
"But like I said, we'll see," he added.
On the other hand, McHale loathes the day-to-day grind of coaching -- the late-night travel and the media obligations that come with it.
"It's like being a player but not getting to play, which is the only fun part about being a player," he said at Dallas on Monday. "It's all that without the fun."
Genial and social by nature, it hasn't been all doom and gloom this season for McHale, who has had to coach a young team without Jefferson and second-leading scorer Randy Foye (hip), who missed the last nine games of the season.
He jokes around with the players, pats them on the back and encourages them on most nights, and the players have responded.
"I expect him back. I get the vibe, you know?" Foye said. "We talk a lot and I just get the vibe. Knowing him as being a championship-caliber player, I don't think he wants to go out with a losing record. I think he wants to make some type of effort and some type of push for the playoffs before he decides to step down."
